The Governors and Head Teacher of Scholar Green Primary School are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, conscientious and self-motivated person who would like to provide a key role in maintaining our school site, to ensure a welcoming and safe environment for the whole school community.

Site Maintenance Officer (Primary School) Main Duties will include:

  • Maintain the school building and grounds to the highest possible standard that complies with legislative requirements and within budgetary levels. Experience of DIY and ability to carry out repairs, general maintenance (electrical, plumbing, glazing, joinery) and decorating competently are essential.
  • Discuss with and monitor the work of contractors engaged by the school to ensure specific standards are achieved.
  • Maintain and operate the site security system, including lock the school and carry out security checks on the building. The successful candidate will be required to act as a key holder which involves responding to call outs as necessary.
  • Carry out and record daily checks on the school building and grounds in order to help maintain and monitor Health and Safety records, for example, weekly fire alarm tests, regular legionella flushing. Also to be involved in Health and Safety audits and to carry out regular risk assessments.
  • Undertake daily portering and cleaning duties
  • Monitor site stock and order supplies
  • Willingness to attend training courses including Health and Safety

Previous experience would be beneficial but training will be provided where required.  Health and Safety in the Workplace, Legionella Awareness, Asbestos Awareness, COSHH Awareness and Working at Heights / Manual Handling Certificates are desirable but not essential.

This is a full-time position.  The hours of working are Monday to Friday 37 hours a week – 52 weeks of the year with 25 days holiday.  Salary: Grade 4 – £21,575 - £21,968
