Clerk to the Governing Body

Starting immediately

 

Approximately 5 hours per week over 38 weeks per year

 

A casual contract with flexible hours based on scheduled Governor meetings during term time with the opportunity for some correspondence to be administered remotely

 

Grade 4, circa £12.65 per hour (pay award pending)

 

This crucial role provides administrative support the Board, ensuring smooth and effective governance within the school.  The successful candidate will play an essential part in the preparation, co-ordination and documentation of meetings, as well as providing guidance on legal and procedural matters to the Board of Governors.

 

You will need strong organisational skills and have the ability to prioritise your workload in line with strict deadlines.

 

A committed approach and the ability to work on your own initiative is essential. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required together with excellent customer service skills.

 

Previous experience and knowledge of the workings of Governing Boards is desirable, however training will be provided. 

 

The Department for Education has recognised the need for Governing Boards to have “professional support” and it is a statutory duty on Governing Boards to “have regard to advice from the clerk.”  It is a statutory requirement to employ a clerk for schools.
