Initial placement in Early Years supporting a named child

We are seeking a caring, patient and attentive Welfare Assistant to support a child within our Early Years setting. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the child's safety, wellbeing and comfort throughout the school day, enabling them to access learning and play opportunities successfully.

The role will initially involve working closely with a named child and will include:

  • Supporting a child with eating and drinking throughout the day.
  • Ensuring the child's safety and wellbeing at all times, including close supervision both indoors and outdoors.
  • Supporting the child to move around the learning environment safely and reducing the risk of trips, falls and accidents.
  • Encouraging independence where appropriate whilst providing reassurance and support when needed.
  • Working alongside teaching staff and external professionals to implement personalised strategies that meet the child's individual needs.
  • Supporting the child's physical, emotional and social development through nurturing interactions and play-based activities.
  • Assisting with intimate care and personal hygiene when required.
  • Supporting the child during break and lunchtime periods.
  • Promoting positive relationships and helping the child engage with peers and learning activities.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and enthusiastic, with excellent interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to supporting young children. You will have a calm, caring and nurturing manner, coupled with the ability to remain vigilant and responsive to a child's needs throughout the school day.

Experience of working with young children, particularly within Early Years, SEND or care-focused environments, would be advantageous. The successful candidate will be a strong team player who shares our commitment to ensuring all children feel safe, valued and able to thrive.

This is a temporary contract linked to a named child.
