Aston by Sutton Primary School is looking for a caring, enthusiastic and committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our welcoming KS1 team. The Role
Contract: permanent | Pattern: full time 32.5 hours | Salary: Grade 4 | Closing Date: 11 September 2026
This role offers the chance to play a vital part in a child’s learning journey, providing thoughtful 1:1 support that helps them access the curriculum, build confidence and reach their potential and beyond. You will be part of a collaborative team that values kindness, consistency and a shared commitment to helping every child feel secure, included and successful.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support a child to learn, grow and achieve their very best, celebrating progress every step of the way
- Work closely with teachers and other team members to provide consistent, effective support
- Help plan and deliver additional activities that make learning engaging, enjoyable and fun
The Person
We are looking for someone who brings energy, empathy and a genuine passion for helping children succeed. You will enjoy working as part of a team, building positive relationships and contributing to a school where children’s learning, wellbeing and sense of belonging are always at the heart of practice.
We’re Looking For:
- A passionate and hardworking person who is committed to making a positive difference to children’s lives
- Someone with experience of supporting children with additional needs, including one-to-one support
- Experience of working with children with autism spectrum disorder and speech, language and communication difficulties
- A highly motivated and inclusive team player who works well with others
- Someone who is solution-focused, resilient and ready to support children in the best way possible
- Strong and established safeguarding awareness, with children’s mental health and wellbeing at the forefront of your practice
- A solid understanding of supporting children with additional needs, backed by relevant experience and training
- Excellent communication skills and a real commitment to enriching pupils’ learning and wellbeing
- The ability to build warm, supportive relationships with children and with parents and carers
- A clear understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum
