Our school is committed to providing an excellent catering service.  We are a smaller than average school serving around 100 lunches each day.

For September we are seeking an enthusiastic, reliable cook, with relevant catering experience to work in a fast paced kitchen serving our wonderful children the best meals. Positivity and flexibility are also key, as is the ability to properly uphold our core Christian values and work within a team. You will be welcomed by our warm and caring school.  

25 hours per week.  Term time only.

Main duties:

  • Preparing, cooking and serving food, accommodating any special dietary requirements and following agreed menus
  • Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen and food preparation areas, ensuring compliance with hygiene, health and safety legislations
  • Managing all aspects of the stocktaking duties including ordering and stock control
  • Ensuring equipment is fit for purpose and properly maintained
  • Regularly communicating with clients and other stakeholders in order to maintain good working relationships

Key requirements:

  • Former catering experience
  • Basic food hygiene certificate
  • Working towards or having completed a nationally recognised qualification in food preparation and cooking would be desirable
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation relating to a catering environment
  • Experience in meeting work related targets
  • Experience of completing paperwork and administration tasks
  • Experience in managing a team would be advantageous
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills
  • Physical skills related to the work, such as lifting items of moderate weight and operating appliances in a commercial kitchen
  • Excellent customer care skills
